Storage Devices

A storage device is a hardware device designed to store information. Types of storage devices used in computers; a 'primary storage' device and a 'secondary storage' device and ‘external storage devices’.

Primary storage' device:
A storage location that holds memory for short periods of times
Ex:
ram (SD RAM, DDR RAM, DDR2 RAM, DDR3 RAM)
Graphic card.

Secondary storage' device:
A storage medium that holds information until it is deleted or overwritten.
Ex: hard disk (ATA HDD, SATA HDD)

External storage device:
External storage comprises devices that temporarily store information for transporting from computer to computer. Such devices are not permanently fixed inside a computer.
Types of external storage devices:-
CD, DVD, floppy disk, pen drive (flash drive), memory card, zip disk, external hard disk…ETC.







Sound & Multimedia

The devices which send sound and video to computer as well as which get sound and video from computer.
Eg: speakers, tv tuner card, sound card, headphone, microphone, dvd drive .etc.
Speakers: normal (2.0), 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 7.1
